Meet our first clients,
Michael and JackJack.
Our Story
Michael began working with the Paw in Hand project in November when he started to seek safety from intimate partner violence. “It was Thanksgiving weekend and I was reaching out to places looking for help. That’s when I heard about the Paw in Hand.” Soon after reaching out, Michael began working with several volunteers at the Paw in Hand Project to secure care for JackJack, so that he could focus on creating a safe and stable environment for not only himself but also for his beloved companion.
JackJack has served as a support for Michael, and one concern for seeking safety was the possibility of losing him. He shared, “I think we would have had to be in a car together, or not having a place for him would delay me leaving.” Once Michael knew Jack Jack had a safe place to go, he began working tirelessly to find resources and housing. In January, Michael was able to obtain a new home and he was finally reunited with JackJack.
This month, Michael is getting settled in his new place and found a new job. He happily shared what he loved the most about his time working with the Paw in Hand Project, stating, "It made me feel better that he (JackJack) was being taken care of and I didn’t have to worry. The ladies over there were amazing, supportive, and understanding."
We are so happy to have worked with Michael and JackJack and are so proud of Michael and his success!
