A few weeks ago, we got a call from a woman who had just made the hardest decision of her life—leaving an abusive relationship. She had finally found the strength to walk away, but there was one thing holding her back. Her dog, Honey.
“He’s been with me through everything,” she told us through tears. “He was all I had left.”
When she reached out, she had already tried every option she could think of. No shelters allowed pets. No friends could take him. And she refused to surrender him, knowing he’d end up in a shelter with an uncertain future.
