“Still Being Blessed”

When she first reached out to us, Rachel (name changed for privacy) was in crisis. She had escaped a dangerous situation, was temporarily living in her car, and her two cats—her only remaining source of comfort—were scared and at risk.

Her entire family had turned their backs on her. She was alone, heartbroken, and desperately trying to hold on to the only companions who had never abandoned her.

“I was on my knees begging people to help me before I found you,” she told us.

Through the Paw in Hand Project, we were able to care for her cats while Rachel focused on finding safety and rebuilding her life. We stayed connected, cheered for her progress, and never forgot that this work is just as much about people as it is about pets.

One year later after being reunited with her cats, Rachel is housed, working, and still has her cats. Recently, she reached out again with a message:

“I am still being blessed by you.”

This is the power of showing up for someone when they’re at their lowest. This is the kind of change you make possible when you support Paw in Hand.
