Prayer Partner

Leaving domestic violence, homelessness, exploitation, or any unsafe situation is heavy, frightening, and full of unknowns. Survivors often feel alone, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to take the next step.

At Paw in Hand, we believe in supporting the whole person — emotionally, practically, spiritually, and with compassion. Our Prayer Partners are volunteers who commit to praying for our clients, their pets, and our team as they move through crisis and toward safety.

Prayer doesn’t replace action — but it strengthens, comforts, and surrounds our families with love.

“I feel alone and scared.”

Survivors often tell us they feel isolated — especially when abusers have cut off family, faith communities, or friends. Prayer Partners help restore a sense of spiritual connection and support.

“Everything feels uncertain.”

Housing searches, court dates, recovery, trauma healing, and managing pet safety all at once can feel overwhelming. Knowing that someone is praying over these steps brings peace and grounding.

“I need strength to get through each day.”

Crisis takes a toll on mind, body, and spirit. Prayer Partners lift up survivors and the pets they love with encouragement and intercession, reminding them they are not forgotten.

We honor each person’s beliefs and experiences — and prayer is always offered, never required.

Faith-Filled Support Rooted in Compassion

The Paw in Hand Prayer Partner Program connects compassionate volunteers with survivors and pets who need spiritual support. Prayer Partners pray regularly for:

  • individuals currently in crisis

  • the pets in our facility

  • Paw Care Families providing temporary homes

  • staff responding to emergencies, intakes, and crisis calls

  • the safety and stability of every family we serve

This ministry brings comfort, connection, and hope to those who are walking through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

How it Works

Our Prayer Partner Program is simple and deeply meaningful:

  1. Sign up. You’ll complete a short form so we understand your availability and comfort level.

  2. Receive prayer needs. You’ll be assigned anonymous prayer requests — no names or identifying information are ever shared.

  3. Pray regularly. Some partners pray daily, some weekly, and some as needs arise.

  4. Lift up special requests. We may send out occasional urgent needs during emergency intakes or reunifications.

  5. Stay connected. Prayer Partners receive periodic updates about answered prayers, reunifications, and the impact of their support.

Your prayers become a quiet but powerful part of each survivor’s journey toward safety.

Why Partner With Paw in Hand

This ministry is unique — and deeply meaningful — because it’s built on three foundations:

  • Trauma-informed spiritual care. We hold space for survivors’ beliefs without pressure or expectation. Prayer is offered, not imposed.

  • Dignity and confidentiality. No names, locations, or personal details are ever shared. Prayer Partners receive only the information necessary to pray safely.

  • Real impact. Your prayers support survivors during life-changing decisions, their pets as they adjust to safety, and our staff as we respond to emergencies 24/7.

Prayer Partners are part of keeping families together — spiritually and emotionally — while they rebuild their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to belong to a specific church or denomination?
No. We welcome anyone who believes in the power of prayer and wants to support survivors with compassion and respect.

Will I ever be in contact with clients directly?
No. To protect the safety and confidentiality of survivors, Prayer Partners never meet or communicate with clients. All requests are anonymous.

How often will I receive prayer requests?
It varies from week to week. Some partners pray once a week, others pray daily, and some sign up to receive urgent needs only.

What kinds of requests will I receive?
Prayer needs may include safety for a survivor, healing from trauma, court dates, reunification with a pet, or strength for staff responding to emergencies — always without identifying details.

Can my small group or congregation sign up together?
Absolutely. Many churches participate as a group and divide requests among their members.
