Service Eligibility

Each client who reaches out to us is valued as a unique individual with their own distinct story. Below, we outline the process for making a referral and the general eligibility criteria. There may be instances when our availability and capacity are limited. However, we are always willing to offer our support, pray with you, and assist to the best of our abilities, relying on the resources that God provides.

Paw Care

Eligibility:

  • You are seeking temporary housing for their pet.

  • The pet housing need is temporary.

  • The pet owner is going to a shelter, hospital, or treatment center.

  • Cases of couch surfing will be reviewed on an individual basis.

  • There is no restriction on the type of pet.

  • Note that housing more than one pet together may pose difficulties.

Referral Process:

  • Referrals are accepted from shelters, partnering agencies, hospital social workers, and self-referrals.

  • Referrals can be made by phone, email, or through the website (please note that phone referrals will receive faster responses).

  • The Connection Specialist will speak with you to obtain basic information, including their name, the reason for needing care, and basic information about the pet.

  • The provided information will be reviewed to determine if a foster family is available to care for the pet.

  • Once a foster family is found, an in-person meeting with the Connection Specialist is scheduled to complete paperwork.

  • Our staff will assist in transporting the pet and their belongings to the Paw Care Family. They will also help the pet get settled and provide the family with all the essential information for pet care.

  • Regular reports and information will be shared by the family and provided to you.

  • Regular pictures will be shared with you.

  • Regular visits can be scheduled to see the loved pet.

Paw Connect

Eligibility:

  • You have a pet

  • You are in a transition period - housing, mental health, substance use, etc.

  • You are at risk of losing pet due to external circumstances

Referral Process:

  • Referrals are accepted from shelters, partnering agencies, hospital social workers, and self-referrals.

  • Referrals can be made by phone, email, or through the website (please note that phone referrals will receive faster responses).

  • The Connection Specialist will speak with you to obtain basic information, including their name, the reason for needing care, and basic information about the pet.

  • The provided information will be reviewed to determine eligibility of services

  • You will be matched with a Champion who will reach out to you

  • The Champion will collaborate with you to assess your needs and provide support and advocacy

  • services that may be available for assistance

    • Vet care

    • Pet deposits (please note that this service is not currently available)

    • Pet care during the day

    • Pet respite care

    • and more!
